In an initiative that affirms the leadership of the distinguished research and scientific competencies at The Hashemite University, the Higher Council for Science and Technology has selected eight faculty members from the University to serve on its National Research Committees, within the national scientific and innovation decision-making system. They will contribute their expertise to policy formulation, priority setting, and the evaluation of projects and innovations.
The new appointments include an elite group of researcher-professors from various colleges of the University, who will assume roles as committee chairs, vice-chairs, and members, as follows:
· Professor Dr. Wasfi Al-Rawabdeh, Vice President of the University / Professor in the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business — Chair of the Committee of Administrative, Financial, and Economic Sciences.
· Professor Dr. Lubna Tahtamouni, Dean of Scientific Research / Professor in the Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Science — Chair of the Scientific Committee, and Member of the Fund Management Committee.
· Professor Dr. Khulood Dababnah, Professor in the Department of Special Education, Queen Rania Faculty for Childhood — Vice-Chair of the Committee of Educational Sciences, Education, Culture, Arts, and Media.
· Professor Dr. Amin Olaimat, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences / Professor in the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics — Vice-Chair of the Committee of Agricultural, Food, and Veterinary Sciences.
· Professor Dr. Mousa Al-Barghouthi, Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science — Member of the Committee of Engineering Sciences, Nanotechnology, and Biotechnology.
· Professor Dr. Nawal Hajjawi, Professor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences — Member of the Basic Sciences Sector Committee.
· Professor Dr. Rasha Istaiteyeh, Professor in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Business — Member of the Committee of Administrative, Financial, and Economic Sciences.
· Professor Dr. Mohammad Al-Tamimi, Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Pathology, and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine — Member of the Committee of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
This selection comes in recognition of the high scientific competence, outstanding research output, and accumulated expertise of the University’s faculty members, as well as their active contributions to serving the academic and scientific community, and their ability to help shape national scientific and research policies and guide strategic priorities in knowledge, science, technology, and innovation.
This contribution also highlights the institutional presence of The Hashemite University in national forums and bodies, strengthening its role as an effective partner in supporting a knowledge- and R&D-driven sustainable development path. This is achieved by providing national councils and specialized committees with qualified expertise capable of creating tangible scientific and research impact. It also reaffirms the University’s standing as a leading higher education institution with a solid scientific foundation and a commitment to excellence in education and scientific research—positively reflecting in serving national priority issues.
